Hello Woozens!
In order to kick off the start of this new Woozworld blog, I'm going to be beginning a little mini-series of a few posts that will all have to do with games played on Woozworld. Throughout this series, I'm going to be choosing a new game to explain in a quick post on Woozworld Trick. Some of the games I'm going to write about include; Hot Potato, Killer Colors, Boot the Ugly, Find the Killer, etc.
Today's post and the first part of the series is going to be about the very popular: Hot Potato!
Hot Potato, although somewhat resembling its real-life counterpart, might not be what you'd expect. However, I'll leave out the rules to that hot potato and focus on the one in Woozworld.
Hot Potato is set up to have one of the eight colored wheels, along with 2 tiles of each of the colors of the wheel (2 tiles of red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, and pink). Every player participating must stand on their own tile of one of the colors.
The game begins with the host spinning the wheel for it to land on a color. Then, if there's only 1 player on the tile of that color, that player will go. If there are two players both on a tile of the same color, the host will call out which of the two will go (typically left/right or top/bottom). If you're called up to play, you will go to the center and must begin clicking the die in the middle to roll it. You must roll until you land on and stay on a 6. There is a timer running as you roll. If you roll a 6 but accidentally roll-off, the timer will continue. If you do not roll a 6 by the time the timer is up, you are out.
If you do land a six, the host will stop the timer and it will be paused where it is. At this point, you will typically be asked, "s or p?" This is asking if you want to s, spin the wheel to determine who goes next, or p, you choose who goes next. The person who goes after you has the same task, to a roll a six, but they will start from whatever time you left off. The timer will usually start at around 30 seconds, and at some point, players may have to roll a six with only 1 second left on the clock.
Players will continue to be eliminated until there are only two left. At this point, the timer will typically increase in the amount of time and the two players left will continuously take turns rolling for a 6 with no pauses in time. The last player left standing will win the game and take home the prize.
DISCLAIMER: I use the words "typically" and "usually" as rules to all games vary, many hosts like to put their own spin or twists on these games and may not play exactly by the rules I've written out here.
I hope that you all enjoyed this tutorial on Hot Potato! I'll be sure to make the next post in a timely manner. Next time I will most likely be discussing "Find the Killer", as I find this game to be the most fun and complex of the games I plan to cover.
